What can be done to reduce greenhouse gas emissions attributable to the electric power sector?

According to the IPCC, the electric power sector is the largest emitter of CO2 emissions, and accounts for nearly 27% of the carbon dioxide emitted by the world’s energy system. This contest seeks proposals for reducing emissions from the electricity sector, and it encompasses the industry’s entire value chain, from choice of fuel supply and power generation methods, to transmission and distribution. Proposals are encouraged to consider new component and system technologies, process changes, and novel approaches to policy, organizational practices and industry governance. See more...

Rapidly deploy simple demand response technologies which do not require central approval or energy markets to create smart grid version 0.1.
Mass-producible integral fast reactor modules can power every country on earth for nearly a millennium with waste products already at hand.
As in SO2 mitigation, spontaneously remove CO2 from power plant flue gas using wet limestone scrubbing.
Create a Carbon Fee and Dividend Policy
Cheap, practical fusion may be closer than you think.
Nobody can afford solar panels. Or, everybody can, as long as there is community wholesale and a little bit of money pooling.
Enabling financial institutions and their clients to confidently make informed investment decisions that will move energy capital forward.
Different nuclear that can solve the world's energy needs without pollution that is safe: Molten Salt Reactors running on thorium ARE safe.
How to restore our climate back to Pre-Industrial revolution temperatures for land, sea and air and how to restore atmospheric Co2 to 300ppm.
Replace all coal and oil electricity genergation with renewables and natural gas by 2025. Replace the natural gas with biomethane by 2040.
Countries implement a carbon dividend (fee, tax, etc.) which is also applied to the carbon footprint of their imported fuel and goods.
Apply pricing to the cost of environmental damage and include that into the cost of the utility
Algae oxygenated our atmosphere, algae can prevent Clathrate Gun extinction while mining bio-fuel stocks for storage in salt domes.
I would propose the production of cities on slopes which produce electrical power food and water in excess of its occupants requirements.
The patented MIklos Technology offers two results: no more gases, and a great business. www.ecoplant.mx
A similar magnetic effect derived from a generator's output can be applied in reverse to compensate for the effect of counter-torque.
Use the piezoelectric effect to harness vibration of cars on highways to generate electricity.
Sometimes, there comes a time, when... you just have to "bite the bullet"
Energy Intensity Lowering - Makes the Earth less Carbon Emission. Energy is Life Use it wisely Today power wastage Tomorrow power shortage
AC power transmission is HUGELY inefficient and should be replaced by HVDC; Direct Current! HVDC is at some 100 times more efficiënt!
An outline of a plan to acquire coal companies, phase out production, mitigate impacts on communities and on coal employees.
The people have over looked an alternative energy system. Our system is a pneumatic / electric generator , fuel less with zero Co2 emission
A modified electric motor advances is own field coil yielding fuel less electricity with zero Co2 emission
if we could build mini turbines into buildings like skyscrapers they could power themselves and be totally off the grid
Eliminating vampire power (consumed by appliances that are allegedly "off", e.g. TVs) reduced my power consumption by about 12%, instantly.
Use hydro power, and hydrogen, created using my Flashing Liquid process. See it on You Tube, White Gasoline Vapor, by Bill Kendrick
Blending climate change adaptation and mitigation through renewable energies in rural XALAPA, Veracruz- Mexico
