Description

Summary

I have been studying energy, environment and fuels for 20 years and am convinced that we must stop burning fossil fuels asap. Unfortunately we will not be able to stop the use of oil and gas. A recent MIT paper concludes that direct capture of CO2 from the air is possible, but using fossil fuels would increase global warming. The only other non CO2 producing energy source is nuclear. Fracking wells are a good place to sequester CO2. www.Skyscrubber.com shows one way.

Category of the action

Adaptation

What actions do you propose?

Educate the public and particularly the environmentalists that global warming is caused by the 1.4 trillion tons of CO2 that is already in the atmosphere. That is the real cause of global warming. The annual CO2 discharges are 35 billion tons which increases the total only about 2.5% so any reduction each year would be insignificant.

Who will take these actions?

Public pressure on our government can expand nuclear development like China, India and other countries are doing. Liquid thorium should be the priority over uranium since it operates at low pressure, safer, has no weapon potential, cheaper and the small amount of waste decays in less than 300 years.
