How much Natural Gas Energy is being Wasted? Blown up chimneys across the country is a lot of HOT WASTED ENERGY! This has to be stopped!

Description

Summary

The Sidel SRU Flue Gas Condenser is designed to recover the heat energy from the ehaust of combusted natural gas.

The world temperature is increasing, and CO2 has just hit the 400 ppm number.

Natural gas is the worlds most important energy source, and commercial buildings and industry and the power plants are consuming most of this energy. They are also wasting 40 to 60% of all this energy up the chimney.                                                 This is energy they paid for. Profit being blown into the atmosphere. Does this not sound just plain stupid?

What actions do you propose?

What I would like to share with you is what our company has been trying to educate and promote for years. To reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions America has to increase it's Energy Efficiency.

Natural gas is today becoming America's most important energy source.
In 2011 the EIA reports that commercial buildings, industry and the power plants consumed approx. 17.5 Trillion cu.ft. of natural gas.
How much of that energy was wasted, blown up chimneys across the country as HOT exhaust into the atmosphere? 40% ~ 60% ?   At what temperatures?
Natural gas to be combusted completely and safely needs "excess air". Commercial boilers add 10% to 30% and natural gas turbines 90 to 99%.   Now how many cu.ft. of hot exhaust is being put into the atmosphere?

The DOE states for every 1 million Btu's of energy recovered from the waste exhaust gases of these natural gas appliances, and this recovered heat energy is utilized in the building or facility where it was combusted, 118 lbs of CO2 will NOT be put into the atmosphere.

Increased natural gas energy efficiency = Reduced utility bills = Profit
Increased natural gas energy efficiency = Reduced global warming
Increased natural gas energy efficiency = Reduced CO2 emissions
Increased natural gas energy efficiency = Water conservation

The residential market has it's high efficiency condensing boilers and furnaces and condensing water heaters. These appliances will operate at mid 90% energy efficiency and vent through PVC pipe - COOL exhaust out of the wall.
America has only one grade of natural gas. Why is it not all used more efficiently?

The technology of Condensing Flue Gas Heat Recovery is designed to recover most of the heat energy from the appliances combusted waste exhaust gases. When the heat energy is recovered what is left is COOL exhaust and WATER, and this distilled water is very usable.

Have you ever seen combusted natural gas irrigate the lawns and flower beds?

America is very blessed to have this abundance of natural gas.

What is needed are regulations and encouragement for this natural gas energy to be consumed more efficiently in the commercial and industrial markets, than is being currently done.

What natural gas is not wasted today will be there to be used another day.

The EPA is forcing the oldest and dirties power plants to be shut down for environmental and health reasons. This would be a perfect time to rebuild these power plants to natural gas in these same locations, as electricity is still required in America and the infrastructure is already in place.
The NEW GOAL should be ~ How efficiently can these power plants be constructed today.

What have we learned over these past years?   Natural gas can be consumed to near 100% energy efficiency.
Recycle these big - tall concrete and brick chimneys. This is not coal or heavy oil exhaust that has to be put into an upper airstream, to send to another county or state, this is natural gas exhaust, clean exhaust.

The land around these power plants have had coal dust and ash on it for 50 years or more.  It would be ideal land to put up algae ponds. Algae likes to grow in warm water, and there is lots of recoverable exhaust heat available from these power plants to heat 100's or 1,000's of acres of these algae ponds to the growers desired temperature.

The cooled exhaust gases can then be blown into these algae ponds providing this algae with CO2 enrichment, encouraging faster fuller growth.   Through the process of photosynthesis this CO2 will be converted to oxygen.

Heated algae ponds will have evaporation, and the Water created during this Condensing heat recovery process can be used to make up for that water loss.

America needs to create jobs. How many jobs could be created assessing every commercial building and industry that is venting HOT exhaust into the atmosphere?
How many engineers will be required designing the most efficient methods of applying all this recovered heat energy?
How many mechanical companies across America will be hired to install all these Condensing Flue Gas Heat Recovery systems?

How many excavating companies will be needed creating all these thousands of acres of algae ponds?
How many full time jobs will it take growing and harvesting all this algae, and how many more jobs processing this algae into Bio Fuels and other products?

How many of these power plants will be converted over the next few years?

What could all this Increased Natural Gas Energy Efficiency do for our environment?
What would creating all these new Green Energy jobs do for our economy?

Natural gas is a wonderful fuel, if it is produced right, and used efficiently.

                   Have a Fantastic Day!

What natural gas is not wasted today, will be there to be used another day.

Who will take these actions?

These actions must be grasped by our governments and utilities. The US Government has over 300,000 buildings that they heat with natural gas, and all these buildings have a chimney- venting hot exhaust.

There are coal fired power plants that are going to be shut down all across the country. This is the time to be rebuilding with the goal of maximizing Energy Efficiency.

There are how many large commercial buildings across America being heated with natural gas and using natural gas to heat domestic water and even heating the swimming pools.

Everything that we consume and everything we use and everything we touch has been processed in an industrial plant. If it was produced in the USA it was probably processed or produced with natural gas. How much of this natural gas was vented as HOT exhaust into the atmosphere?

Who will take these actions? Those concerned about profits and our environment.

Where will these actions be taken?

Energy Efficiency is a world wide effort. Every commercial building and every industry around the world that is consuming natural gas or LP gas should be realizing that the environment is important also to them, and increasing their profit margins by not wasting their energy is also a good thing.

How much will emissions be reduced or sequestered vs. business as usual levels?

The US Department of Energy states that for every 1 million Btu's of heat energy recovered from these waste exhaust gases, and this recovered heat energy is utilized in the building or facility where the natural gas was combusted, 117 lbs of CO2 will NOT be put into the atmosphere.

What are other key benefits?

WATER. There is water in combusted natural gas, and with the technology of Condensing Flue Gas Heat Recovery this water is being recovered from the cooled combusted exhaust gases. This distilled water is very useable.

Do Not Waste The Water!

Have you ever seen combusted natural gas irrigate the lawns and flower beds?

What are the proposal’s costs?

Every site is different and has to be engineered.  Increasing energy efficiency  saves money. This saved money will in just a few years have paid for the energy saving investment.

The life of the Sidel SRU Flue Gas Condenser is today 30 years and still going strong. We estimate this equipment to last 50 years or more.

Most projects will have an energy increase of 10% or more. How much is spent yearly for natural gas? 10% X 50 years= $

Costs are only one aspect. What will this investment do for saving our environment?

Time line

The Sidel SRU Flue Gas Condenser has proven it's capabilities over the past 30 years.

Today the world is realizing a Climate Change. Is this a result of environmental neglect? How soon should an effort be made to slow down Climate Change?

When should this start? Today, and be continued untill we have done all we can- to efficiently do whatever it is that needs to be done.
