Electric vehicles ought to include discounts for public transportation. For an example the Light Rail in Portland Oregon has been a pleasant trip for me in the past from Beaverton (Home of Nike) to Portland for business and pleasure. The light rail is electric and when the grid improves with more clean renewable generating resources then this example would be outstanding. Consider that much of the energy is alread from clean renewable hydropower (~50%). The trip to the parking lot at the station by an electric vehicle could be incentivized by electric charge stations for the private vehicles. Perhaps paid for by finite fossil fuel tax on gas guzzlers cars from registration surcharges.

Thank you for your Climate CoLab contest entry. We appreciate your willingness to share your ideas and also the time and effort you put into developing a proposal and submitting it to the CoLab site. Unfortunately, your entry was missing content in some of the key fields of the proposal template, so we were not able to advance it to the finalist round. We encourage you to stay involved in the Climate CoLab community. You can support and comment on proposals that have been named finalists and even volunteer to join one those teams if you have relevant expertise. We also encourage you to submit another proposal in the next round of contests, which will start in November 2013. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the CoLab staff at admin@climatecolab.org. Keep up the great work. We hope that the Climate CoLab community, working together, can create solutions that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.
