Thank you for your entry. We had concerns about this idea (to link existing septic tanks to develop decentralized anaerobic digestion facilities), specifically the requirements of anaerobic digestion and how to pipe/use biogas and prevent explosive gas mixtures. Anaerobic digestion needs to be strictly air-tight with process control for both inputs & the biogas produced. Also, systems to produce and transport biogas need to be designed and implemented to prevent formation of external explosive gas mixtures from leaking methane (5-15% CH4 in air). We would have also liked to have seen more references to the considerable amount of existing literature on successful anaerobic digestion systems.
