Description

Summary

Marine is one of the most important resource for people living. Cirebon regency has a high potential in human resource, natural resource, and infrastructure. Gebang Mekar is one of villages in Gebang subdistrict, Cirebon Regency (Dinas Perikanan dan Kelautan Kabupaten Cirebon, 2002). It has characteristic as a high potential marine area. The fisherman from here catches so huge of fishes that can be consumed and also can not be consumed for people because of poison inside fish. The fish that can not be consumed is thrown away and it becomes a cesspool causing environment pollution.  The fish is puffer fish (Tetraodonlunaris.) which is the sampling crop of fisherman catch.

          Gebang Mekar people think that puffer fish can not be consumed because it has much poison. That paradigm causing puffer fish utilizing is not running optimum, although the amount of puffer fish is greatly overflow. Base on that phenomenon we have an initiative to utilize puffer fish optimally. The mechanism is turning the leather of puffer fish into crackers with the market name Puffer Fish Crackers. Therefore, author takes this green project under the titile “Puffer Fish Crackers: Utilizing Sustainable Puffer Fish Leather (Tetraodon Lunaris) In Raising Economical Rate Among People In Gebang Mekar Region, Indonesia

What actions do you propose?

 

  1. Utilizing Socialization of Skin Puffer Fish Waste Optimally

            This step is giving the information related to the danger in consuming puffer fish in Gebang Mekar. And giving the explanation realted to the part of puffer fish body that can be consumed and can’t be consumed. Safety steps in processing puffer fish in detail in so it is not danger if it is consumed.

  1. Demo and Direct Practice Making Processing Of Puffer Fish Crackers

Holding a workshop and training intensively for people related to process in making Puffer Fish Crackers. Testing and evaluation related to the information and material has been accepted by people, it is done in order to know how far the progress of uderstanding.holding a product competition based on Puffer Fish Crackers in raising people motivation.

  1. Establishing Reference Industry

The purpose in establishing reference industry is giving a model for coast people in order to ease  processing in opening business/home industry. Monitoring regularly as an effort in evaluating progress of Puffer Fish Crackers industry.

                                   

  1. Giving Facilities and Infrastructure

In this step, allocate loan as a business capital for people in running Puffer Fish Crackers and do a depelovement business as a guiding business facilities. Moreover, providing suppporting producing tools is done in raising efectivity and efisiency product producing, giving an explanation and applying the latest technology in solving problems that is happening during producing.

  1. Monitoring and Business Evaluation of Puffer Fish Crackers

Monitoring and giving recommendation in developing industry. Holding gathering frequently as a discussion media  in increasing business knowledge for coast people.

 

  1. Giving Marketing Facility Product

The last step is giving the local and interlocal link information to ease product distribution. Moreover, it will be held exclusive training related to product marketing effectively.


Who will take these actions?

The Gebang Mekar village surface is briefly very easily recognizable, when after midday until late afternoon on the highway across the coast line of approximately 24 km (Profil Desa gebang Mekar, 2002) to the east of the city of Cirebon. Swakarsa village area of ​​287.65 ha. The path runs along the coast with the main feature Ciberes river that divides the coast line as well as splitting the village of Gebang Mekar. The village is easily accessible, located on the edge of the Pantura path by using public transport. Gebang  Mekar village bordering the coast highway (south), Java Sea (north), Gebang Kulon village (west) and Gebang Ilir village (east) consists of five blocks, that is blocks Karangbulu and blocks Gedongan on the west side Seta river Petoran block, block Kangkungan and block Karangmulya on the east side of the river.

Puffer Fish Crackers has Potential From Several Aspects. In economic aspect, skin fish cracker is a profitable business. Market opportunity in domestic or export for this commodity is very wide.

Skin fish cracker business has a positive impact in social. Home industry afford to absorb labor force from surrounding. Indirectly, this is such an effort in creating  work place which decreases unemployment in an area.

Skin fish cracker has a potential in decreasing cesspool of catch that can contaminate the environment around in the coastal area.  Skin fish cracker business doesn’t raise environment pollution.From health aspect, people in coast area still protected from environment pollution. The waste as diseases source and pathogen microbe, and also odor source can be turned into something precious and does not disturb human respiration system.

Related proposals

 

The matter that will be submitted to the Gebang Mekar Coastal communities as consumers of green project, we will explain in detail about the benefits that would be obtained if the society agrees and receive a concept of  Puffer Fish Crackers that we have made. The public will be more interested when explained about the financial benefits to be gained by implementing our green project. We will also be able to convince the community to establish industry-based Puffer Fish Crackers as the main source of family income.
