I would say that the problem is the subordination of all other policy goals to economic growth. We think that economic growth solves all our problems. Instead we should think what we need and want to achieve, mitigate climate change, reduce poverty, create jobs... If fulfilling these goals leads to economic growth that is fine.

Thanks for the feedback Jan, I altered the text a bit to make it maybe a bit more clear.

But we have to stop one thing; the ruthless competition (between regions, states, corporations and people).
Through mutual solidarity and interaction we can stop the need for higher birth rates to keep the engine running and go for a mutual sustainable way, search for meaningful products and services. Not like we do now, with trying to go faster and faster, heading towards a certain brick wall with only economic progress in mind thinking this would solve everything, but with an eco-nomy that has brakes and a steering wheel.

This proposal is maybe (a bit) too naive and utopian in nature.
