It’s disappointing that the contributors weren’t interested in responding to our feedback from the first round of judging. Since there have been no changes to the proposal since then, we have no additional feedback at this time.

Judges'' comments
Our impression is that that the applicant is proposing to build a significant enhancement to an already-developed and implemented online tool. The new services are interesting and well-within their capability to provide, given NJ's existing GIS-based resources. Their approach offers a more user-friendly approach to state-level data than FEMA and other resources. The opportunity to introduce a risk assessment component is significant and potentially quite useful. They have a proven user-based and a proven software development development process, so I think that they are in a good position to implement this. Rutgers University should consider making data from their website (including shpfiles) downloadable. However, we would like the “novelty” aspect of this proposal to be more clear—the main focus is on the project's success to date, and while what you are proposing to add seems significant, it would be helpful to make that significance stand out by including more concrete details. We are particularly interested in how this project will lead to people taking action.
