Dear IMBECS Thank you for your entry in the global plan contest! It looks like you have submitted an identical proposal to the Geoengineering contest. Kindly clarify how this global proposal includes additional information which (1) links together proposals from other contests into an integrated plan for the world as a whole, and (2) completes a climate model for your proposal’s impact on climate change and our economic systems. I await your revisions. Thanks Jasmine.

Jasmine, I need help on the model as carbon negative fuel use is not available in the brief models made available. Carbon negative fuels are a true game changer and it does not seem to be reflected in the models. I've contacted a few people involved with the models asking for their help. Any suggestions, from any actor/sector, would be highly welcomed. Also, I've begun to show how each of the other contest proposals are linked to the IMBECS Protocol/technology and I'll try to further clarify the synchronistic aspects befor the deadline. Best regards, Michael

In an effort to answer the questions raised in the other contests, which the overall IMBECS Protocol proposal has reached the semi-final level, I've created a Google Doc to help avoid character limitations and provide working links to key references. Many questions being asked about the IMBECS Protocol requires more than simplistic answers. The Google Doc., titled simply "Response to the MIT Climate CoLab Questions", can be found at the below address. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1acQkkyOKrbovpYr2lcArbCSNKl1rFDA0GgSG_MJayXU/pub The above document will be up-dated until completion of all related contests.

Thank you again for the inspiration of including a Global Plan. Earth and humanity certainly need an integrated solution to the whole problem of climate change which is innovative, practical, and comprehensive. Objective: “The contest seeks an overall plan for the world as a whole.” How you envisioned accomplishing the objective: “A key aspect of the contest is that authors are invited to create integrated proposals…” Your definition for “integrated”: “… bring together proposals from other contests (implied the “other contests” were other categories within Climate CoLab, not for example the Paul G. Allen Foundation’s Ocean Challenge, proposals to competitive U.S. Department of Energy Funding Opportunity Announcements, etc.) …” Your objective is a great attempt to increase effective Collective Intelligence in that people from many sub-proposals would work together to knit a coordinated global plan. For example, people who knew to worry about the limitations on fresh water and terrestrial agriculture and forestry could join with people who knew the capacity of the oceans to heal themselves while providing food and freshwater security. That is, terrestrial-focused people from your Land Use category could have joined with ocean-focused people from the same category in your Global Plan category. Unfortunately, that appears to be very difficult to accomplish over a few months. Have you measured how the Global Plan has increased effective Collective Intelligence? In light of the time constraints limiting your desire for more effective Collective Intelligence, you should not get hung-up on how people accomplish you objective, but stick with the objective. “Global Scale Planning and the IMBECS Protocol” accomplishes the Global Plan objective in the sense that is truly global, not only terrestrially global, but global in time, global in categories of learning, global in the kinds of jobs involved, etc. This year, you can encourage those proposals which present the highest forms of Collective Intelligence – multi-discipline, multi-culture, holistic, and global thinking. Next year, you can redesign Climate CoLab.

The proposal is a list of marine policy initiatives, reasonable in their own right, but it’s not clear whether their overall global impact would be sufficient to constitute a true global plan. Aggregates a number of existing proposals describing marine initiatives, but integrated logic is not strong. What are the synergies? How will enforcement be done? Which organizations will be responsible?
