Summary
All fossil fuel subsidies must be terminated by all governments in short order. BUTWithout scientists in general following the example of James Hansen and speaking out that we are beyond DAI and in a planetary emergency for immediate transformative (IPCC AR5) measures, humanity and almost all life is condemned to oblivion by cascading multiple carbon feedback runaway climate change- that the IPCC AR5 has ignored.

What actions do you propose?
Without scientists in general following the example of James Hansen and speaking out that we are beyond DAI and in a planetary emergency for immediate transformative (IPCC AR5) measures, humanity and almost all life is condemned to oblivion, by cascading multiple carbon feedback runaway climate change- that the IPCC AR5 has ignored. Scientists must make it known that only zero carbon emissions can prevent planetary catastrophe which means all fossil fuel and biomass combustion and deforestation must stop. CCS cannot prevent planetary catastrophe. Scientists must call for the termination of all fossil fuel subsidies by all nations in short order ($1.9Trillion/year IMF 2013). Scientists must call on governments to immediately apply the IPCC AR5 best case scenario (only under 2C scenario) RCP2.6 that calls for emissions to decline fast from 2020.

Every nation.
Who will take these actions?
The National Academies/ Royal Societies will make issue climate emergency reports calling for governments to take the above measures on an emergency basis, to give humanity some hope of surviving global climate change. The Interacademy will issue a similar report.
What are key benefits?
The termination of all fossil fuel subsidies will rapidly and powerfully shift the market out of fossil fuel energy and into renewables. CCS will be out as hugely uneconomic. Humanity will suffer greatly from committed global climate change but future generations will survive to prosper developing a golden age of endless abundant safe clean renewable energy.
What are the proposal’s costs?
No cost. The result is the greatest ever boost to the world economy and world employment as the world is rebuilt for safe clean zero carbon renewable energy.
