Pitch

To create revenue for public spaces, the creation of a national brand of products specifically produced by state and national parks.

Description

Summary

National and state parks can begin producing its first luxury brand products, the first is a brand of mulch.

It can be written into state and national laws, that this mulch must be available in all home and garden stores.  The mulch can be priced much higher than its competitors because it is for charity.

The mulch is produced from the forest overgrowth, from trees cut down for fire trails, trees or branches blocking roadways and trails, fallen trees and branches.

The mulch can be baked, salted or acidified to prevent the spread of insects and other pests.

The composition of the mulch is locally harvested, so it can also vary from location to location, it can also be a combination of tree types.

What actions do you propose?

1) Talking to mulch producers to find amicable business partners who produce mulch.
2) Talking to national and state forestry services in the surrounding area.
3) Renting a dumpster which park staff dump wood debris into, it has a phone number and instructions painted on it, to do when the dumpster is full.
4) Hiring a set of people who live near the forest to collect the dumpster when it is full, and then deliver the material to the business partners.

Who will take these actions?

Once a website has been produced which demonstrates the need for this program.
A list of endorsements for this project should be gathered from all of the environmental organizations, maybe from some leaders of these environmental movements.
A list of endorsements from mulch producers, and CEOs of home and garden stores.
Finally, the head of the U.S. Forestry service must be lobbied.  Once that person is on-board with the project, the entire plan can move ahead.

Where will these actions be taken?

How much will emissions be reduced or sequestered vs. business as usual levels?

What are other key benefits?

What are the proposal’s costs?

  Total cost $25,000.

  Producing a website $10,000.
  Lobbying U.S. forestry officials $5,000.
Lobbying mulch producers and home and garden CEOs $5,000.
Producing brand name packaging materials $5,000.
