Pitch

Celebrate Sustainability, Resilience & Diversity by Fostering Community Collaboration by breaking down Silos through a shared Knowledge Map.

Description

Summary

Develop a nodal network of Diverse endeavors, literature, people, institutions and resources that Celebrates Sustainability & Resilience. Through a shared Knowledge Map that shows the interconnections of all of these, a Community Collaboration is fostered by breaking down silos. Nobody works in a vacuum yet many do. We are not alone. We are so far behind as a Progressive Society that Horizontal collaboration is the only way forward. Sharing our Collective Knowledge is a form of Storytelling that has been very effective for many cultures. Social Media, Wiki and other forms of communication are one ingredient but the need to harness a Alexandrian-like Online library is paramount. Free from commercial use, it is the original intent of the Internet.

Category of the action

Changing public perceptions on climate change

What actions do you propose?

Many people don't understand the difference between Cooperation and Collaboration. Most operate under a vertical hierarchy. From the top down. Lateral or Horizontal Collaboration is rarely practiced. The most successful endeavors are true Collaborations. Sharing Knowledge and Resources. To foster a Collaborative we must first show the interconnections of everything via Systems Thinking. A nodal Knowledge Map (created on different Campuses, Social Innovation Centers and Governmental Institutions) connected together is the first step to create a portal. Creating Workshops to foster Collaboration is the next step. The final step is to be a extreme positive force by Celebrating these Collaborations of Sustainably, Resilience and Diversity.

Who will take these actions?

Nodes are created by schools, Centre of Social Innovation, B-Corporations, Municipal, State/Provincial and Federal government will populate a Knowledge Map. Individuals also contribute by adding to the Knowledge Maps and making Interconnections.

Where will these actions be taken?

All Communities around the world are to take place in this. Is is to show the interconnections of everything as in Systems Thinking.

How much will emissions be reduced or sequestered vs. business as usual levels?

When true Collaboration occurs then duplication does not take place. Emissions would be reduced 100 fold.

What are other key benefits?

Behavioral Change of a shared and interconnected purpose would be of the utmost benefit. By Storytelling with Knowledge Maps, each Community becomes stronger by the shear weight of possibilities and shared resources.

What are the proposal’s costs?

The proposal costs are negligible for a Knowledge Map. The choice is an established Enterprise software solution or an Open Source. The database should be a Wiki. Either volunteer or designated personpower hours, hardware and network costs are all those than must be accounted for. It is scalable per node.

Time line

The first 5-15 years is to identify Primary nodes and build the layout of the Knowledge Maps around the Globe. Collaboration Workshops will be held and the results recorded for Storytelling within the Knowledge Map itself. 15-50 years would be to Celebrate the Victories and Leadership of Sustainability, Resilience & Diversity. 50-100 the Behaviour Change of Collaboration will be ingrained in future Generations and Systems Thinking fully taught.
