I like the idea. A German carpooling service is already doing it for shared rides that are offered by users: mitfahrgelegenheit.de

This is indeed a cool idea -- do you actually think it would change behavior? I'm curious to think of how we would incentivize behavioral change. Also, smart phone apps like CityMapper show the number of calories burned for each mode of transit, so that's a similar idea... Maybe you could work with those folks?
