What priority actions can urban areas take to increase their resilience to climate change?

Urban areas represent diverse and populous places which serve critical functions in national economies, and the global economy. Today’s rapidly growing urban areas are uniquely vulnerable to climate change impacts such as sea level rise, increased floods, more intense heat waves, droughts, and storms due to high population densities, limited access to resources and infrastructure, and governance challenges. In this contest, ICLEI: Local Governments for Sustainability, seeks proposals on the ways that urban areas can use social, political, economic, technological and infrastructural investments to reduce their vulnerability and increase their resilience to climate change.
