Pitch

A cap-and-dividend scheme that would limit carbon emissions and put money in the pockets of citizens

Description

Summary

Category of the action

Mitigation - Helping U.S. enact carbon price legislation

What actions do you propose?

This is a placeholder for an entry devoted to the Sky Trust, the oldest and most well-developed carbon cap-and-dividend scheme in the literature. (See Peter Barnes’ book Who Owns the Sky?.) Other dividend schemes are already entered in the contest, and the Sky Trust certainly deserves a place in the conversation. I plan to flesh out the entry as time permits, but I am setting it to be editable by anyone for the time being so others can help too. (Interested parties, please “join the team” as well! It would be great if an established organization that works with the Sky Trust concept would take ownership.)

Who will take these actions?

Where will these actions be taken?

How much will emissions be reduced or sequestered vs. business as usual levels?

What are other key benefits?

What are the proposal’s costs?
