Very interesting proposal! Somerville's first EV charging infrastructure is going to be installed soon. Where do you see the City government's greatest leverage point? Investing in infrastructure, advocating for EV use, regulation? Some of these may be more successful than others in a collaboration with organizations such as USPS. Alternatively, what fleets other than USPS might have a substantial impact? Thank you!

Thank you very much for your comments and your interest in our proposal. The City’s government should work together with public and private entities to identify needs as well as support investments in infrastructure and definition of ad-hoc rules. This would serve as a connection between possible developers and customers and could be a market driver for reducing barriers for implementation of new technologies (i.e. through parking fee reduction for EV, reward program for electric driven miles, etc.) USPS is just an example to implement our proposal. There are various delivery services that could be involved in the project and others to consider include food delivery, company/government fleet, etc. Charging stations could be installed in parking lots or strategic areas in Somerville to give residents the option to use them as well. We would be happy to develop some pilot initiatives in Somerville with your support and supervision to help the city better understand the benefits that this proposal can contribute to your Net-Zero goal.

Electric Vehicles are already taking to the road in USA. Don’t eliminate electric drivetrains as an option when cutting emissions from a heavy fleet. With increased production of electric HDVs manufacturing costs will continue to come down. Current manufacturers of heavy electrics include: Athon, BMW, Daimler Trucks, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen to name a few.

USPS also using Electric and green vehicle to ensure they wont polute any more. Now all USPS employees can make use of lliteblue potal to get all the benifits.

Thanks.
