We welcome you to stay involved in the Climate CoLab community: support and comment on proposals that have been named Finalists, and vote during the public voting period to help select the contest’s Popular Choice Winner. Climate CoLab will be opening more contests throughout the year and you are welcome to submit your proposal to those contests as well. Keep up the great work. We hope that by working together, we all can create solutions that wouldn't otherwise be possible. Sincerely, Contest Fellows If there are additional comments from the Judges & Fellows, they will be included below.

Thank you for your proposal. We find the idea compelling. However, it does not directly address the intent of this particular competition. The aim of the contest is to develop ideas about how MIT's alumni community can help to implement the institution's existing Plan for Action on Climate Change.

We invite you to keep working on your proposal and perhaps submit to another Climate CoLab competition moving forward.

I remain confused on how this proposal does not bring the MIT alumni community together to help implement the institution's existing Plan for Action on Climate Change.

From that Plan:

"Simultaneously, and in collaboration with colleagues around the world, we must advance many aspects of science, technology, design and policy, drawing on insight and creativity from across MIT’s five Schools, and from our staff."

And the stated objective of the Plan is"

"to minimize emission of carbon dioxide, methane and other global warming agents into the atmosphere, and to devise pathways for adaptation to climate change, through the active involvement of the MIT community, proactively engaged with industry, government, academia, foundations, philanthropists and the public."

Our proposal is all about accelerating progress towards low- and zero-carbon energy technologies.  We could not have been more responsive to the stated intent.

Good luck in your work.
