Dear collaborators of Bukatsudo-Fashion, This proposal is outside the realm of consideration for the Other Developed Countries contest for both reasons of language requirements and content. I would ask you to move the project to the 2015 Proposal Workspace (link below) to continue your collaboration so as to not detract from the contest. I appreciate your cooperation, Dustin Fellow, MIT Climate CoLab 2015 Proposal Workspace: https://www.climatecolab.org/web/guest/plans/-/plans/contestId/1300103

ただ、「What are the plan’s key benefits?」 文章が長い項目は少ないの ですが、「Pitch」と上記の「What are the plan’s key benefits?」

In order to broaden awareness about climate change, we show analogy with photos of fashion from 30 years ago, nowadays, and 30 years anticipation. Summary (3000) In order to understand the climate change intuitively, we show the photos of fashion, such as close at 30 years ago, now, after 30 years. We collect fashion photos from both past and present through SNS. We then collect anticipations of fashion from 30 years in the future through collective intelligence from all over the world. The idea is to inspire passion into communities in order to sustain this flow of ideas. For instance, ideas will be posted on competitions, collaboration with fashion design educational institutions will rais Explanation of the emissions scenario calculated in the Impact tab (2000) As this project is an awareness campaign, the effect on CO2 reduction cannot be directly verified. However, it can be analogized back with an alternative indicator, such as a measure of the social media. What are the plan's key benefits? (1000) We can broaden awareness of climate change throughout the people with the help of themes familiar to them. Through gamification, the people will know how life can be affected by climate change. We believe that this activity will achieve a greater involvement from a broader population into curtailing climate change. What are the plan's costs? (1000) Organizing ideas competitions will cost from 100,000 yen to 1 million yen. Depending on the The cost of the competitions scale. The involvement of fashion design educational institutions is expected to generate further costs, such as collaborative research. However this cost can be tempered thanks to sponsorship agreements with those institutions. The involvement of interest communities basically does not generate cost, but it is necessary to advertise in order to attract the attention of those communities. If we seek opinion from experts, additional consulting fees can be expected. What are the key challenges to enacting this plan? (1000) Two main challenges are foreseen. 1. Collecting 30 years-old fashion photos from around the world This requires the cooperation from people from all over the world. Getting this cooperation will require to attract interest in the project with advertisement campaigns. 2. Collecting anticipations on fashion 30 years in the future As we have written so far, it is necessary to collect ideas about fashion in 30 years. The key for success of this project is about how to involve what community, and then validate the effectiveness of the information diffusion. Timeline (1000) It is divided into the following three phases. ① Information gathering phase (1-5) ② Information spreading phase (6-9) ③ Effect verification and the next study phase (10-11) 1. Consideration of stakeholders involving 2. Negotiations with stakeholders 3. Recruitment method of both photos at 30 years ago and ideas of fashion 4. Preparation for ideas recruitment 5. Implementation for ideas recruitment 6. Verification of gathered ideas 7. Creating for outbound manuscript 8. Study of information dissemination and diffusion method through SNS. 9. Outgoing 10. Verification of total effect 11. Study for next step Related plans https://www.climatecolab.org/web/guest/plans/-/plans/contestId/1300701/planId/1309907 Lowering of CO2 emissions based on higher consciousness and good human habits Through the change of the consciousness of people by education, this plan aims to reduce CO2 emissions exponentially. Our project has the same target. If the results of our project is referred in the education package of this plan, the reader can forecast the change of fashion by the future in relation of climate change. It can be expected that this plan also benefits from the results of our project, bringing a wider audience to learn more about climate change through familiar topic. https://www.climatecolab.org/web/guest/plans/-/plans/contestId/22/planId/1304129 Photovoice for Vulnerability: Disaster Adaptation in Central Philippines The Approach of this plan using photos is similar to our project. This plan is more limited region but adopts also interviews and ethnographic approach. Our plan has adopted a wide range and light way. If our advantage works together, we will obtain a synergistic effect.

Thank you for your contest entry. We have looked at your proposal and found that it contained intriguing elements; however, it has not been reviewed in this first round because it does not address the contest prompt. We encourage you to review the contest resources page and to keep developing your idea before the August 31 deadline. You can also transfer your proposal to a more relevant contest or to the Proposal Workspace to re-open it, make edits, add collaborators, and even submit it into a future contest. You can do so by logging into your account, opening your proposal, selecting the Admin tab, and clicking “Move proposal” or “Copy proposals”. Reach out to us if you have any questions about how to complete your proposal. All the best, 2015 Climate CoLab Fellows Additional comments from the Fellows: Hello members of Bukatsudo-Fashion, It’s certainly a novel idea you’ve proposed. I’d be really interested to know what conclusions you can draw about climate change based on fashion change, and what methodology you’ve employed to do so. Fashion is always in a state of flux (it was way back in the 19th century that Oscar Wilde opined that 'fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months'), and it is not as if the climate has been altered so radically that populations which formerly wore thick winter clothing can now rely on more tepid alternatives. Also, even if a trend in fashion were determined which correlates with a changing climate, how does this lead to solutions to climate change? It seems to me the instrumental temperature record would be a more galvanizing force than associated changes in fashion. However, your proposal does not address the goals of the Other Developed Countries contest, which is to draw from relevant sectoral contests in order to construct something of a holistic strategy for addressing climate change that can be implemented in the heterogeneous array of non-EU/US OECD nations. As a result, it will not be forwarded on to the contest judges for review. In order to continue to collaborate and build on your linking of climate change and fashion, I’d invite you to move your proposal to the more generic 2015 Proposal Workspace. If you have any question, please be sure to ask Best, Dustin Fellow, MIT Climate CoLab
