Finalist Evaluation

Judges'' comments

The judges see this as an important proposal in a country with a high need for climate solutions. However, they saw it as perhaps fitting better in another contest, since it does not focus specifically on shifting behavior. If the goal is 'Implementation of various models like Rain Water Harvesting, Solid Waste Treatment Plant, Water Treatment Plant, Solar Plants etc' then this is more on the structural side of solutions than on 'shifting behavior'? They also felt that the structure and goals for the student clubs are unclear.

Thank you for your submission to the Climate CoLab. This proposal has the potential to forge strong behavioral change on climate through education.

The Judges would like to see additional clarify on the goals and means of bringing about this change (e.g., Is the goal to bring about change in schools by working with teachers and administrators? Or is the goal to foster change by working with the students? If the latter, why leave out the adults?)

In addition, the Judges would be benefit from greater elaboration on the actors that would be involved and their reasons for involved.

Also- how would the schools be identified?

Why not focus on curriculum development and working with teachers/administrators to integrate the green lessons into the school life?

Respected/Esteemed Judges,

We are overwhelmed to read your reviews and suggestions. We are working on presenting better clarification and will update the proposal soon within the deadlines. However we apologize that the presentation wasn’t clear enough to portray our proposal well.

The Proposal isn’t about targeting change in schools; but rather in pre-university colleges. The Proposal is regarding consortium of various experienced and skilled people who along with college management and students will collectively take steps to make a college/University an energy self reliant Institution by providing  turnkey solutions in the areas of Energy Conservation, Resource Management and carry out various Awareness Programs and allied activities.

Through this initiative we shall be able to forge a link between College Management, students and experienced Guides to mentor them in their activities.

This program is exclusively for colleges and universities (Higher Educational Institutes) only. It has been designed for colleges as college students are matured and will volunteer themselves to come forward for the awareness programs and eco club activities. Moreover due to size constraints also a college would be best suited place for programs like Energy partner.

However we have planned to involve schools in one of the event of Eco Club where college students of Eco Club will visit to the schools and teach young students of schools about the importance of some basic topics. It would be more impactful as young students will learn faster with Eco club volunteers as they will see this activity as some elder brother/sister has told them to do not their teacher.

Other than this event, Energy Partner Program does not intent any other activity in the school.
