Pitch

Multiple disciplines of the life sciences are being negatively affected by global warming. Our media messages need to reflect that.

Description

Summary

I've noticed that when it comes to global warming it's mostly climate scientists who seem to be in the news talking about it. However, we know that biologists, zoologists, botanist, glaciologists, oceanographers and other types of scientists are seeing dramatic changes in their area of expertise. Yet, only climate scientists seem to be the ones making it to the news.

We need to create a youtube channel that shows scientists from multiple disciplines telling us what evidence they are seeing right now about global warming. Most people don't know that global warming is affecting the biosphere in very dramatic ways.

What actions do you propose?

The union of concerned scientists could be in charge of this effort, but it would probably require a lot of resources, mainly in the form of financing to be able to create such series of videos about the issue.

Who will take these actions?

Scientists from different disciplines, together with media professionals, who will create this type of informational videos.

Where will these actions be taken?

It will be for public viewing via youtube.

How will these actions have a high impact in addressing climate change?

What are other key benefits?

Once people are aware of the magnitud and scope of the problem, they might be ready to make some of the necessary sacrificies that are needed from all of us to mitigate this problem.

What are the proposal’s costs?

I don't have any idea, but it's probably in the order of tens of thousands of dollars.

Time line

This can be produced within a year or so, but it would have to be updated from time to time.
