Thank you for your submission to the Climate CoLab. The Judges have carefully reviewed your proposal, however, decided not to advance it to the next round.
The Judges were not sure this concept has any benefit over existing vehicle technology that automatically shuts off the engine when the car is idling. While the idea is generally interesting, the judges had a few concerns. One is the engine stop start system, which already does what the proposer suggests, even in the absence of red traffic lights. These systems are already available. In addition, it is not clear how the system would operate at malfunctioning traffic lights with a continuous red light period.
