There is clear strong societal impact with this very well structured proposal that covers a lot of ground from technology to target market to timeline. Though the judges highlighted the potential drawback of its proposed impact, it’s clear this is an impactful proposal. As recognized by the judges in the semi-finalist selection, the proposed technology has great potential as it offers a viable solution to the increasing demand of small scale energy storage in support of domestic scale renewables. The very few points that could be strengthened include the costs and rest on investment (the proposal touches upon this issue only briefly) and lifecycle performance of the system.

Comment from Judge 1:
This is a novel proposal, and already has support from a number of other organizations and funders as demonstrated by the application. It would be useful to know about the safety of this technology, especially regarding use or misuse of the methanol which holds the energy. Also, what are the maintenance and replacement details?

Comment from Judge 2:
This proposal is very interesting as it addresses two topical areas in the building sector: energy generation and storage. Through EU funding the technology package is being developed and the next step, sizing and integration into the residential building sector, appears particularly exciting and strategic for the reduction of CO2 emissions. While currently it targets developed countries only, further development of affordable units for developing countries is envisaged and encouraged. Considering the prospective growth of circular economies globally, associated with decentralised renewable based energy systems, this technology is a perfect match.

Thank you for the comments.

In the section "What actions do you propose?" we added about the maintenance and replacement details. Some explanation about the methanol storage and utilization were incorporated.

New partners (Who will take these actions?) and a new scheme regarding to the  impact of  these actions on greenhouse gas emissions and/or adapting to climate change were also included.

Within this particular proposal the target countries are the ones given, but we of course care about the environment and climate change is relevant all over the world, so further development and focus on efficiency to develop more economical version of our system will be as a future target for us.
