What actions do you propose?

Climate change is cross cutting and relates to many SDGs from 1, 2, 3, 6,7, 8, 9,11, 12, 13, 14, 15. Key SDG which is a big problem is the solid waste management under SDG 9 on Consumption and production and which ties with all the others.

Who will take these actions and which types of actors are involved?

The Team Kenya SDGs Forum role will be coordination between the national and 47 counties where integration of the policy decisions from national level will be integrated.

The technical committee will be the liaison committee and link with the top policy makers, the experts and the implementors.

Impact/Benefits:

Kenya has chosen the climate change resilient development pathway and the technical committee will be charged with its implementation at the grassroots level, linking with the experts, the communications teams and the county assemblies for legislation. Will ensure activities have mitigation measures included.

What are the most innovative aspects and main strengths of this approach?

While the national government has enacted climate change act, action plan and strategic plan. the same has not happened at the county government level. The coordination, information sharing, monitoring and reporting system will ensure this happens. That the county governments take climate change considerations into account.
