An innovative rail transportation system for people and goods which provides an on-demand & non-stop service from A to B on a rail network


Description

Summary

An ultraefficient rail transportation system for people and goods which provides small autonomous rail vehicles for up to 6 people traveling on a very light railway (half as wide as a conventional railway for trains) with dedicated station-stops.

Vehicles can travel fast on the railway with their rail wheels and can move omnidirectionally on the station’s surface with additional wheels called “mecanum wheels”.

Vehicles are very efficient due to the very low aerodynamic drag coefficient and the very low rolling resistance of steel wheels on steel rail.

The speed on the railway is up to 150km/h or more and, despite the high speed, the energy consumption and so the energy costs per kilometer are very low.

The service provided to the customers is on demand with vehicle parking stations always available for users 24h a day, transporting them non-stop to any desired destination on the network. They can however choose to stop at any intermediate station if service is needed.

Passengers travel in a private or shared vehicle, relaxing while travelling at 150 kmh or more, which is ideal for daily commuting (5-100 km) or long distance travel (100-500 km). An urban low-speed 60km/h network is also feasible.

 

The aim of this projet is to become a alternative to future infrastructure project based on conventional railway systems.

Conventional railways ave many problems:

They offer a bad use experience with:

- Constrained departure times

- Obligatory stops

- Train changes

- Long waiting time in the station

The infrastructure is:

- Big, heavy and with a big environmental impact

- Extremely expensive

- Very noisy
