Solutions to improve energy efficiency within Corporate exist, all we lack is proper training of corporate employees on existing solutions.

Description

Summary

Based on thorough normative and empirical study of the key phenomenon, it is evident that we have a significant number of innovative solutions within corporate facilities – all that lack is the expertise of corporate employees on proper usage and utilization of the existing innovations within the facilities. This lack of expertise is brought about by poor training and lack of common knowledge on the existing significant energy solutions. Many at times, corporate facilities employ workers. However, these workers, instead of being thoroughly trained on how to use the existing energy solutions, they are haphazardly informed on the working procedures of the existing energy solutions, without stemming to the grassroots. In other words, these facilities have emphasized more on the end (getting employees to work), rather than the means (proper training of these employees on how to work).

My proposal thus seeks to address this phenomenon by providing a strategic framework for training of corporate employees on how to properly use and utilize the existing innovative solutions within the corporate. Moreover, my proposal also builds on an incremental decision making aspect, whereby, rather than coming up with new policies and solutions within the corporate to address energy efficiency, existing policies and solutions should be reinforced or restructured. This ought to be done through thorough training on how to utilize and advance the existing solutions. As if that is not enough, my proposal also provides a systemic time frame and time-line which may be considered as being adequate and proper training, and relevant organizations which should carry out the training. With emphasis, I once more state that there exist all forms of innovative solutions within corporate facilities to advance energy efficiency, all that lack is the expertise which can only be properly nurtured through proper training.

What actions do you propose?

In explaining my proposal, I seek to thoroughly examine what real training should entail. I am diverting from the “utopian” model of training that previously underpin corporate facilities. Training has always been about hastily giving explanations of how things work, the people training are not certified trainers as such and the time frame dedicated to training has always been insignificant. Thus, in training I focus on three models which I propose should underpin any form of training within the corporate facilities.

  1. A thorough explanation of the working method, the economic, social and environmental significance of the existing green energy within the facility

Many at times, training has been all been about briefly monitoring, and explaining how a green energy solution works. Trainers have never gone to the extent of deliberating the economic, social and environmental significance of the existing solution. This act can motivate employees to come up with more innovative ways of improving the efficiency of the solution. Explaining how a given solution works is not enough. Going a notch higher to explore the impact of the existing energy solution may be a milestone to ensuring the existing solution is properly maintained, utilized or even improved.

     2. Networking with relevant green energy organizations and experts to offer the training

Training is not all about having that employee you believe has knowledge in how a particular energy solution works. Rather, training should be about contacting and inviting experts, creators or even organizations that have a hand in the establishment of a given energy solution. I believe that there are and may be people in corporate facilities that understand how a particular energy solution works. However, when offering training, let us leave this people out for a while. We should, rather, turn to those people or experts who had a hand in coming up with the solution. In so doing, in training, they will better explain what motivated them to come up with the particular innovative solution, how they believe the solution is important and the future they project for that particular solution. in so doing, employees will better understand the significance of the solution.  moreover, rather than just understanding how it works, they would have learnt on what motivated the establishment of the solution, its history and its projected future. Believe you me, from that, many ideas and ways may come upon how to improve the solution or even how to generate a new solution.

   3. Providing a 1 month thorough training on any existing or new innovative solution

In deed, worker's are like the hands of the factory or organization. Without them, the organization cannot get things done. Now that they are the hands of the organization, it is worthy to conclude that the existence, progress, success or failure of the organization lies in their hands. As a result, their training should be so thorough and should be given good time. One month, and not one week, as many organizations do, is not enough for training. Organizations should thus see into it that more and adequate time is set up for training of new employees on the existing innovative solution. One month is good enough to ensure that employees will get more informed on how to use the existing solution, and the expectations needed from the same.

Who will take these actions?

Corporate Facilities Management - The management of the various diverse factories or companies will be very significant in taking these actions. These organizations should devolve a lot of funds for the purpose of training employees on the existing solutions. They should also, rather than coming up with new innovative solutions now and then, amend and strengthen the existing solution.

Green Energy Companies - in deed, the companies or organizations which were critical in coming up with any innovative solution should be at the forefront in offering the training because they have more expertise and understanding of the particular innovation.

Where will these actions be taken?

These actions will be taken in corporate facilities, factories and companies across the whole world. From Australia, to Africa, to Asia, to Europe, to North America, to South America, these actions will be taken in all these factories.
