Fukushima's radionuclides and their effect on our Global weather
Mar 8, 2013
I think that the huge amount of radionuclides from Fukushima are having a major impact on the Weather we are now having… anytime you put charged particles into the upper atmosphere, it is bound to have some unusual effects on our Weather! I think of it as Radioactive Cloud Seeding (RCS) by Japan and it is having a global impact on all of US! Now adding "insult to injury" the burning of radioactive debris in Japan, is also spreading Globally and adding additional radioactive pollution to the air we all breathe, so it is no longer "JUST" a Japanese problem! There are international Laws against "dumping" toxic waste in the Ocean but what about "dumping" toxic waste in the atmosphere?

This is not possible. The amount of radioactive material from Fukushima released to the atmosphere is an infinitesimal amount of energy compared to that needed to form or dispel a storm. Billions of times higher ionization occurs every day due to solar radiation hitting the upper atmosphere when the sun rises. Thats why we have an ionosphere. Fukushima radiation release cannot possibly be affecting the weather. From a net health perspective, it is safer to live in the radiation exclusion zones around Fukishima than to live in the smog in Tokyo or NYC.

Regardless of whether radionuclides affect weather - the other - global - health impacts from Fukushima will, in the end, be known as catastrophic. The smog in Tokyo and NYC will seem very limited in scope.

I don't want to appear as flaming, but this endtimes rhetoric sounds like a drug induced fantasy. We creatures on this planet have been living with radioactivity forever. Someone needs to educate themselves rather than seeing everything as conspiratorial drama.

Disclaimer: I am a Pro nuclear energy Iranian, so perhaps I am trying to lull you all into a false sense of security about nuclear dangers. But about the weather effects of Energy, Wind Proponents say massive wind farms will slow down hurricanes. http://www.economist.com/news/science-and-technology/21597880-madcap-idea-protect-americas-coasts-storms-windmills-your-mind They're promoting this as added value, and it is - but if it has that kind of impact on hurricanes - doesn't that make for a mega butterfly effect? Does this raise any red flags for anyone? Geo-engineering? Terra forming?

The change in our atmosphere made itself most obviously manifest around the time we developed, dropped, and continued to test atom bombs, starting in the early 1950's. . I remember distinctly abnormal orange colors in the sky over Bavaria in the days immediately following Chernobyl, before anyone knew the accident occurred. Since Fukushima, the atmosphere in Los Angeles has been extremely dry, and normal rain patterns severely interrupted. It is naive to think that nuclear energies do not affect the atmosphere, or even more naive to try to believe that they otherwise have no great effect on biological systems. They have proven to do so repeatedly. The damage at Chernobyl has been grossly understated. Just recently a British TV reporter went to Fukushima to catch a fish in the Exclusion Zone. A local ornithologist told him that there has been ongoing decimation of bird species since the accident, and that they are not recovering. The only real definitive book on the disaster, written by the physicist in charge of the cleanup, was published in Germany by Springer Verlag in 1991 and not distributed in the US, Chernobyl; Insight from the Inside, by Vladimir M. Chernousenko. Anyone who works with radioactivity who has not read that book needs to do so if they are going to have an informed dialogue about the impacts of any nuclear meltdown.

Japan should open technical papers of Fukushima Daichi plant for global Science community to study them and compare these patterns of radioactive waves with the weather on the planet. I know myself that after Chernobyl 1986 there were several very hot summers with no rain. Now a lot of people have cancer diabeties mental disorders etc.

Hi Folks, You may be interested in this analogistic modeling of the Langmuir circulation of the Fukushima ocean water contamination. The work is close to 3 yrs old but it can give us some indication of the extent of the pollution. http://www.asrltd.com/japan/plume.php It is also important that we keep in mind that marine microbes constantly and rapidly evolve and this type of pollution (as well as others) can effect that evolutionary pathway. Are we talking the birth of Godzilla here? No, yet there is no excluding the possibility that significant interference with the microbial loop can happen. As far as changing the weather, we would have to look at the 3rd or 4th order of effect which puts the possibility simply beyond our ability to predict. Michael

Rezwan, Thank you for offering a number of interesting ideas. You rhetorically asked 'geoengineering?'. My original interests in climate change mitigation and adaptation involved the evaluation of geoengineering concepts. Based upon that almost 8 yr long effort, I believe the most important and thus basic geoengineering concept of all is that we are, in fact, already geoengineering this planet. Many definitions of the word carry the qualifier of 'intentional' yet intentionallity has no true legal basis and if you do remove that word in the many definitions of geoengineering, you end up with what we now have. Further, the shear scale of the carbon and other problems does now require us to conceive of, fund, and deploy truly vast scale CO2 removal operations if we are to avoid the worst of the downstream effects of our past actions and/or inactions. Any thoughts? Michael

I have studied about the fukishima disaster as I was in college during these days. The Nuclear energy used by the power plant is really dangerous. Japan is small country in terms of Area but for country like India great amount of energy is required. Indian Army and http://knowledgeofindia.com/international-border-of-india/ is a place where the most of India's GDP is spend.
