too little too late?

I have found myself in a bit of a crisis lately after viewing the views of Lovelock on the issue of climate change. http://timguldentopsbe.webhosting.be/?p=2556 Is there maybe anyone here to get me out of this rather depressing state of mind that I find myself in lately due to this? Thanks a lot in advance.

I think we've all been there at one point or another and all you can do next is give in to despair or allow your fear to motivate you. It's a process. What I fall back on is that really, no one knows the future, Lovelock included. True, the future could be even worse than climate models predict or, events could intervene that allow us to avoid the worst case scenario -- these might be actions we take now such as a rapid energy descent (improbable though that might seem) or they might take the form of totally unpredictable events like a volcanic eruption or some other negative feedback loop not even on our radar right now. Some folks maintain hope that humans will experience a spiritual quantum leap that allows us to mobilize as a global community. Do what you can, take care yourself, and try to find joy in living in a world that, at the moment, is habitable and beautiful.

Many thanks Erica for your reply, means a lot to me. I managed to climb out of the rather depressing state, I guess I needed some time to put things more into perspective. Strange that you are saying the same thing really as Lovelock: to enjoy life a bit more, When I'm honest that is something I forgot to do after all those years of climate fighting.

Many thanks for the input. I think I cleared this issue for now though. In the end you can either sit down and become a george carlin (been there really), or stay and try to be a constructive force towards handling this issue towards a positive evolution. every time the second option wins, despite some more Carlin periods as well I have to add. If I can make a suggestion, I looked at this anthropological presentation and it gave a lot of possible answers on the why of the inaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f51N4-tBvVc After that I did some digging and maybe found some more micro actions to counter that feeling of helplessness. I'll try to work on that from time to time within this proposal that I entered in the proposal workspace called "micro climate actions". thanks again for the input and I'll catch you later.
