I am a research engineer and co-founder of Aventech Research Inc., a company dedicated to innovative airborne electronic solutions for environmental measurement including meteorology and airborne remote sensing.  I have been keenly interested in the issues of peak oil and global climate change for the better part of a decade.  The slow throttling of the supply of fossil fuels in the face of bugeoning global demand, driven by the development imperatives for billions of the world's poorest, coupled with a looming global climate disaster in coming decades due to poisoning of our shared planetary atmosphere are factors that will shape our collective destiny.  My training as an engineer led me to transform my understanding of these problems into an exploration of potential solutions.  This led me to learn about nuclear power, especially nuclear power in new forms.  It led me to understand how as a society we have tremendously exaggerated the risks of nuclear power, especially the dangers of low-level radiation, and how we have placed fear over reason.  In light of these twinned global crises, a massive push for nuclear power in many forms is society's only hope for long-term survival.
