Michael Brown is a mechanical engineer-in-training based out of Ottawa, Canada. Currently he is part of the project management team for the Canadian High Arctic Research Station project, planned for operation in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut in 2017.
He is a Master of Applied Science candidate in sustainable energy engineering at Carleton University. The ultimate goal of the research is to understand how to provide 100% of the energy requirements of a remote Arctic community through renewable sources.
Other work includes a case study in rural electrification in Nepal, energy auditing of a university administrative building, and energy modeling, volunteer coordination, and technical writing for Team Ontario Solar Decathlon, which won first place in the Engineering Contest at the 2013 competition in Irvine, California.
He lives in Ottawa with his cat, Missus Grumplebums, and his two roommates. He visits his partner in Toronto, the Centre of the Universe(TM), as often as he can.
