Bio: Sarah Boren is the Executive Director of the U.S. Green Building Council North Florida Chapter, a mission driven non-profit organization committed to creating sustainable communities and green buildings for all within this generation through open, collaborative education and leadership. Sarah is also the Executive Director of the Green Team Project, a program of the Tides Center and a solutions-oriented national non-profit that helps individuals and small businesses save money by becoming environmentally-friendly in their everyday practices.  As Co-Organizer of Sustainable Jacksonville, Sarah is trying to find ways to educate, increase the awareness of, and connect the general public to green businesses and sustainable efforts in the region.  While Sustainable Jax nudges the general public to get involved and informed, she helped co-found the local NE FL Green Chamber to nudge the business community to become more sustainable and green the supply chain.  Along with her husband, she is also a small business owner of a child’s place Montessori SchoolsSarah has over twenty years of professional experience in the environmental sustainability field in the non-profit, private and government sectors including at the Smithsonian Institution in DC and green business consulting in CA.  Sarah received her BA in Politics and a minor in Chinese from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1991 and a Masters of Environmental Management in Resource Economics, Policy and Business, including corporate environmental management, from Duke University in 1999.  Her favorite job title is mother of two wonderful girls.
