Silvia Pariente-David is a senior advisor and energy consultant on energy and climate change issues to several international financial institutions, governments, international organizations and energy companies. She is also Member of the Board of GERES, a development NGO specializing in sustainable energy and environmental protection. Much of her work focuses on optimization of renewable energy integration into the power systems. She also has a keen interest in the creation of an integrated Mediterranean energy market and contributes regularly to analysis of interconnector projects to improve regional electricity market integration.
She retired from the World Bank where she was Sr Energy Specialist in the MENA region. She was one of the leaders of the World Bank MENA CSP scale-up program which was granted $750 million from the Clean Technology Fund to accelerate global deployment of the CSP technology and prepared projects to finance CSP plants in Morocco and Tunisia (including the recently inaugurated Noor-Ouarzazate plant). She was also actively involved in the development of the Maghreb common energy market
Prior to joining the World Bank, Dr Pariente-David was a partner in the Energy Practice of PA Consulting. She has over twenty years of experience in managing consulting activities in the fields of energy market analysis and environmental policy assessment. She has directed many multi-client studies and consulting engagements in energy, environment and transportation and specialized in market research, strategic and regulatory analysis, sales forecasting, investment analysis, scenario development and policy analysis.
Prior to Hagler Bailly and PA, she was the managing director of DRI/McGraw Hill World Energy Service (now IHSGlobal Insight) and held various other positions with DRI/McGraw-Hill. She holds a PhD in Operations Research from MIT and an Eng. Deg. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble.
