Member Profile
Passionate about building sustainability, I have 9 years' experience motivating teams of volunteers on conservation projects. After returning to complete a Masters of Environment and Sustainability in 2013/14, I’m now seeking new partnerships and opportunities which build upon my broad range of work experiences.
Most of my work from 2005 has involved elephant conservation and community development in Thailand. Targeting a very traditional industry, I help indigenous communities build systems to manage their natural resources more sustainably. For example, by establishing Thailand's first elephant owners' co-operative in a remote Karen community, which cares for elephants via their traditional use of ecosystem services.
I ease transitions to sustainability in complex, multi-stakeholder, resource dependent relationships. This often requires community engagement, infrastructure development, and building resilience in local economies. I enjoy designing and implementing effective strategies and programs. I've successfully launched volunteer programs and led dozens of volunteer groups. Extensive experience leading field teams and interdisciplinary teams of experts aids in my delivery of smooth project management.
Through the summer of 2014 I worked at Western University in Canada, developing tools that merge the fields of ecosystem conservation and risk management, to communicate policy frameworks and highlight strategic gaps. I am currently studying to achieve my Project Management Professional designation with PMI, while discussing opportunities for my next adventure.
