Prof. Sudip Rakshit is a Canada Research Chair in Bioenergy and Biorefining processes based in Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. He has been involved in a number of initiatives in climate change adaptation and adaptation/mitigation. In his earlier position as VP Research at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand, he initiated and set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Sustainable Development in the context of Climate Change (SDCC). His research specialization includes the production of alternate forms of energy and platform chemicals from renewable (non-fossil) resources. He is involved in environment impact analysis and Life Cycle Analysis of the production of value added products from lignocellulosic residues. He has worked on developmental projects in South East Asia and some parts of Africa.
