Sarah Lewis

Certified European Passivhaus Designer
Sarah Lewis is a Certified European Passivhaus Designer and Associate Architect – Sustainability at Barron and Smith Architects (NPS Group). She has lectured on Passivhaus and the PHPP, and been a guest critic at a number of architecture schools. She has spoken at Conferences including the International Passivhaus Conference in Innsbruck, 2011 and Leipzig 2015, and participated in conference panel and industry debates on sustainability issues.
Sarah has extensive experience working on low energy and Passivhaus housing. As well as leading on a number of housing projects at Barron and Smith, Sarah is developing a monitoring programme for completed projects building upon her experience leading six Technology Strategy Board building performance evaluations. Sarah has led on a number of award winning Passivhaus projects including new build housing and low energy retrofit schemes. Committed to achieving exemplary building performance, her completed projects, show these are among the lowest energy buildings in the UK.
Sarah is an RIBA published author with her book ‘PHPP Illustrated – A Designers Guide to the Passivhaus Planning Package’ published last Autumn. She has also written a number of articles for publications including the Architects’ Journal (AJ), Eco Tech, and Grand Designs.
In 2013 year Sarah - who studied at the Glasgow School of Architecture and University of Westminster - made the AJ’s list of Top 20 Women who are leading the way in sustainable architecture and Building Magazine’s 50 Rising Stars.
