Dr Paola Leardini is a Senior Lecturer at The University of Queensland  Australia.

Dr Paola Leardini holds a PhD on building energy efficiency and IEQ from the Politecnico di Milano (Italy). She has worked as an ESD consultant, and taught in prominent tertiary institutions in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, New Zealand and Australia. Her research interests span complex sustainability issues of the wider built environment, including investigation and assessment of multiple design strategies for low to positive energy buildings as well as resilience to climate change. As a certified Passivhaus designer, in 2012 Dr Leardini became founding member of the Passive House Institute New Zealand (PHINZ), and is currently member of the Brisbane Chapter of the Australian Passive House Association (APHA). She is also a member of the Cooperative Research Centre for Water Sensitive Cities and an active researcher of the Centre for Future Timber Structure at the University of Queensland, where she currently lectures in environmental and architectural design. Dr Leardini’s studies on comfort and energy efficiency of new and historic residential buildings have been published internationally. She serves as a reviewer of scientific journals and was invited to join judging panels of prestigious sustainable architecture competitions. Her professional and academic work aims at dissolving the apparent dichotomy between design and performance in architecture, especially through her latest research on performative design and eco-digital fabrication.
