Spencer is entering his final year of Mechanical Engineering at University of Calgary after a 16-month internship with Cenovus Energy. During this time, he has had the opportunity to work as Field Process Engineer and Offsites Area Contact for the Foster Creek SAGD facility. Previous summer internship roles have included Equipment & Reliability Engineering at the Syncrude mining operation in Fort McMurray, and Project Management with SNC-Lavalin.
Through his wide-ranging industry exposure, Spencer has developed a determined attitude towards learning the many aspects of sustainable conventional and unconventional upstream operations in the energy industry. He has been a committed member of many, various extra-curriculars including but not limited to: starting Defensive Back with the Calgary Colts football organization, designing reclaimed brownfield sites with the City of Calgary and FUSE E3DP, and working as Secretary for the APEGA Lakeland Branch Executive Committee. Spencer hopes to bring his all-encompassing personality and passion for collaboration to the Climate Colab competition.
