I was born on July 19, 1969 in India, completed my MSc (Geology; Karnatak University, Dharward) in 1992 with gold medal and Ph D (Marine Geology; Mangalore Univ.) in 1999.  I was a post-doctoral fellow at PRL, Ahmedabad, Max-Plank Institute, Germany, and University of Toulouse, France.  I worked as DST Young Scientist at NITK Surathkal between 2003 and 2007.  Since 2008, I am with the Civil Engineering department of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal University.  In  2013, I spent six months on a sabbatical at the State University of New York at Albany, USA as a visiting scientist.   I am currently a Senior Associate Professor at MIT, Manipal. 

In January 2013, the government of Karnataka has awarded the Prof Satish Dhawan Young Engineer Award to me, in the discipline of earth sciences, for my outstanding contributions and achievements in the area of earth sciences.  I currently hold the prestigious Dr TMA Pai Endowment Chair in Earth Sciences at Manipal University. 

My research interests are on long-term climate change, geochemistry of air, water and soil, carbon cycle etc.  I have received about Rs7.5 million research grants from government, and international organizations and able to develop a state-of-the-art geochemistry laboratory at MIT, Manipal. 

I have published about 25 popular science articles in Kannada newspapers and weeklies of Karnataka.  I have about 50 research articles published in national and international journals and in conference proceedings.   I am actively collaborating with scientists in Japan, France, USA and China.
