Member Profile
I have collaborated with poverty reduction and sustainable development efforts in more than twenty countries in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. I am an independent senior consultant specializing in participatory development with over two decades of experience as liaison among North and South governments and multilateral agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations, private sector organizations, and institutions of higher education. I hold a B.A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder and an M.A. in International Affairs from Carleton University, Ottawa. I am fluent in English, Spanish, and French and have served as an advisor to the World Bank, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), UNICEF, the Inter-American and the Asian Development Banks, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and the British Department of International Development (DFID).
Foremost among my skills and professional objectives are: (i) promoting innovative participatory solutions to reduce poverty and foster sustainable development by strengthening the capacities of the world’s most vulnerable individuals, families, and communities; and, (ii) enhancing the participation of stakeholders in partnerships between public sector efforts and those of civil society, as represented by voluntary organizations, community-based organizations, private sector, and research and academic institutions
