Dr. P.C. Maithani is currently a Director in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. During his professional career he has worked on different aspects of renewable energy programmes and policies, rural energy issues, Clean Development Mechanism under Kyoto Protocol to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Global Environment Facility and bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms. He provided support for technical cooperation among developing countries in the renewable energy sector and participated in the development and implementation of renewable energy programmes under Country Cooperation Framework. He joined The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in 2006 as Visiting Fellow for study on renewable energy. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Garhwal University, Uttarakhand. He has also co-authoured a book on Biogas and has contributed to many articles in Journals and at conferences. He lives in New Delhi with his wife and two children and also shares deep interest in theatre, philosophy and art.
