My area of specialization is climate change adaptation and mitigation, GIS/RS/GPS applications and mapping sciences. My research interests include vulnerability assessment and adaptation to impacts of climate change, mitigation and climate conflict, gender equity on land acquisition and distribution and land tenure security studies. I am a member of the Surveyors Institute of Malawi with more than 15 years of work experience in land surveying and GIS and mapping sciences. I pioneered the design and production of work plans and deed plans (cadastre) using GIS software in the Department of Surveys and was accredited for the achievement. I have worked as a short-term consultant and researcher on numerous GIS operations and mapping of specific projects. Currently, I am a lecturer in the Department of Land Management, Faculty of Environmental Sciences at Mzuzu University. I obtained Master of Science in Climate and Society from Mekelle University (Ethiopia), Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying from University of Malawi – The Polytechnic (Malawi) and Diploma in Geographic Information Systems from ITC – Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, University of Twente (Netherlands).
