Barsa is a graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University, an Ivy League institution in the USA. She majored in Environmental Policy. Her undergraduate thesis examined the relationship between climate variability and rice yield in the aerosol affected central eastern India. She is an environmental activist presently based in India and works towards protecting environment at national and international levels. She works closely with her community to address problems related to environment and more specifically climate change. Her work has been highly acknowledged by different media houses in India. She has been awarded many prestigious awards as International Climate Champion by the British Council and the Brightest Young Climate Leader. Her project “Green Dream for Greener India” in association with the British Council was highly successful and was covered by different newspapers. She has been invited to various environmental conferences and was featured in the United Nations Youth Leader Magazine for her amazing work. During her time in the United States, she also had a chance to work with the Hudson River Foundation as a research assistant. She primarily worked on the New York – New Jersey Harbor & Estuary Program (HEP) and researched and prepared document on Climate Change Impacts on the Goals of the New York-New Jersey Harbor Estuary Program Action Plan for 2011-2015. She hopes to offer the depth and breadth of her experience in the environment, climate change and youth participation of past eight years.
