Caitlyn Hughes is Program Director with Solar Cookers International, based in the Sacramento, CA office. She leads project and sector-wide data collection and analysis, evaluating the impacts of solar cooking on a global scale. She empowers, expands, and engages SCI’s network of hundreds of key partners to strengthen their solar cooking efforts by organizing conferences, webinars, and working groups. She created the SCI Association and has grown it by 500%. She coordinates the world’s largest online database of solar cooking information which receives over 2 million page visits a year. She has secured SCI’s largest recent grants.
Prior to joining Solar Cookers International in 2014, Hughes directed the largest and highest grossing Northern California fundraising office for major non-profits including Save the Children, The Nature Conservancy, and the Sierra Club. She has also designed and implemented community and literacy programs in Cameroon and the United States, settled refugee families, and analyzed major country humanitarian aid funding with Development Assistance Research Associates (DARA) in Madrid, Spain.
Hughes has a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Human Development and a minor in Biology from the University of California Davis. She has a master’s degree in Humanitarian Action from Ruhr University in Germany.
