Dr Pedro Moura Costa is the co-founder and President of BVRio - Rio de Janeiro’s Environmental Exchange. BVRio is an organisation aimed at promoting market mechanisms to facilitate compliance with environmental laws. Among other sectors, BVRio is currently running a Responsible Timber Exchange, a trading platform with inbuilt due diligence and risk assessment capabilities, to facilitate the trading of timber products from legal and/or certified sources. Formerly, he was the co-founder and President of EcoSecurities Group Plc, a company specialised in carbon trading and clean energy investment, listed in the London Stock Exchange. Dr Moura Costa is a Honorary Research Associate of University of Oxford and has published over 80 articles and books on greenhouse gas mitigation and carbon trading including as a Lead Author in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports that were recognised with a Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
