An initiative since Feb, 2016 is my request of 30 groups that represent planning professionals to raise the question with every member of congress
- Is legislation placing a price on greenhouse gas emissions necessary to avoid unacceptable climate change impacts?
"The average area of burnt forest in the northwest United States each year from 2003 to 2012 was almost 5,000% larger than in the years 1972 to 1983, and . . . the fire season grew from an average of 23 days to 116 days" - Nature, Worldview, Oct 13, 2017
Oct 2017 CA wildfires resulted in more than 40 fatalities. Sonoma County CA was recognized for its climate change preparedness in 2014. In my upcoming round of request I will ask if planning groups have inquired whether Sonoma County has anything to share with other counties in the US about dealing with the severity of climate impacts that we now experience. Given this outcome from Preparedness . . . time to consider options to Prevent ?
