People have little awareness of themselves as contributors to global warming as they generate CO2. It could be think that their CO2 production is smaller as compared to industrial, electricity generation and transportation sources. However, disordered and non-conscious human behaviors also generate excess of activity, inefficiency and excess of waste. For this reason generate CO2 depends to people.

Very interesting approach trying to establish connections between the micro and the macro scales. As individuals, it is hard to understand the way our habits have a global impact. Has the proponent seen the website www.verdeate.com ? Their apps seem to be a good example of how to morivate people to change their habits to reduce consumption. Good luck with proposal!

Interesting idea, but questions remain: why their site vs. other campaigns to raise consciousness on the issue of climate change. The authors could take into more account existing research on what kinds of interventions work to change behavior and public opinion. It’s a strength that the project is based in Latin America, since not enough has been done on climate change there, but how could this effort be linked to similar initatives in North America, Europe, and Japan?
- The novelty of this proposal might be the application of existing methods in Latin America but the proposal largely ignore about ten years of behavioral research focused on energy use and climate change. For example see the web site of the Behavior Energy and Climate Change Annual Conference which attracts about 750 researchers at its annual conference in the US with a sister organization now started in Europe and another launching in Japan. If the twist here is valuing eco-system services and things of that nature there is now a large and growing literature on that as well.
- How to publicize, communicate across cultures, encourage adoption? scale up from their platform?

Dear jan-k
Thank for your comment and your question, that help us to illustrate our point.
It is a fact that food is largely wasted.
When we talk about eating consciously we mean five aspects at least:
- Taking into account the act of eating as a deliberate process that involves sitting quietly at the table, appreciating and thanking for the food and for the people who have prepared it and cultivated it; chew it slowly, savoring and distinguish the flavors before swallowing it.
- Sharing food in the table; serving it and eating with gusto, without exaggeration, avoiding the waste that occurs when people have more on their plates than necessary.
- Preparing food in proportion to the real needs of people, with no excessive leftovers or rejected food. When there is awareness, there is information that eventually comes to those who prepare the food before serving at the table and allowing better preparation.
- Understanding the nutritional balance of food and paying attention to those elements that provide added value and quality. In this way you can consume smaller amounts without adversely affecting the pleasure of eating.
-Share conversations and time together as part of the habit of eating, helps the collective pleasure of eating, no longer based on excess, but in the collective sharing and creativity.
It is my personal, family and collective expertience, in the groups in which I share life, that in this way we may arrive at savings of 20%. Not to mention the potential social and economic impacts.

When we make consciously everyday activities, We can allow body will be generate positive responses on our wellbeing. So, it is important that our habits will be a response to healthy life, where we make a important contribution to mitigate environmental impacts.

I am a 100% that the start to any change is due to the impact of the good practices and habits that will expand exponentially. I hope you will be able to reach/educate young and old...this will be hard. but better to focus on the younger!!
