Thanks for submitting your very interesting idea. On site, distributed renewable energy generation is definitely a strong strategy for carbon neutrality. Do you have any thoughts on energy generation and storage beyond the next 5 or so years? What can we lay the ground work for now in terms of technologies that would provide greater than 30% savings in the future? Thank you!

Proposal
contributor
Thank you very much for your comments and your interest in our proposal. We believe that distributed generation and storage solutions are key to achieving carbon neutrality. For example, distributed PV generation produces clean energy on-site, reduces the need to build new transmission capacity, and helps avoid transmission line losses. Also, battery storage provides flexible capacity and can benefit from demand response and load management. There are three important applications that should be considered regarding this proposal: demand optimization (building management system, lighting retrofits, HVAC upgrades, building envelope improvements), advanced controls (demand response program, system to balance supply and demand, optimization of power system based on performance metrics) and grid independence (automatic connect and disconnect from the main grid to meet specific performance). The integration of those applications could lay the foundation to provide long-term energy savings. If you have further questions on the applications we mentioned, please don’t hesitate to ask.
