Clearly a unique proposal: Novel, Feasibility, Impact, Presentation. The weakness we perceive is that it seems a one-man effort (so far), and there is no discussion on how to make a well-staffed, high-performance team around it. Barriers to widespread adoption of Etherum / Climatecoin will be high in the beginning (in spite of ever more people having heard of Bitcoin). The project should also have a high-level advisory board tied to it, which should increase costs somewhat, but in light of potential benefits would be low. The max Climatecoin offsets should be tied to the global carbon budget of Meinshausen et al 2009, Carbon Tracker, Global Carbon Project etc., i.e. a clear science-based carbon budget. But should it be 1.5C, 2C or 3C with 50% or 66% probability? Such questions require a good advisory board.

This is an impressive and original idea. We like that it addresses a huge leverage point: expanding our money system beyond the mono-dimensional dollar valuation. Your proposal is quite thorough, but we would like more clarity on your "What can you buy with Climatecoin?" section:

- What do you see as the timeline for Climatecoin gaining traction?
- What incentives would stores or others have to accept Climatecoin as currency?
- Are there any precedents for offsetters accepting alternative currencies? How would you address barriers to acceptance (possible skepticism) on their part?

Thanks! I've expanded the "Time line" section, and replaced the "What can you buy with Climatecoin" subhead with three sections on adoption by users, merchants, and offsetters. The "energy usage" section just after that also touches on adoption by offsetters.

Thanks again! I'm hoping ClimateColab will help me make the contacts I need to put together an advisory board, at least on an informal basis. Choosing and recruiting reputable offsetters is another area where I would need expert advice.

On the technical side, I'm a professional software developer and a very active member of the Ethereum community. The project will necessarily be open source, like every major project on Ethereum; it's the only way to gain sufficient user trust. I can build an initial implementation, and believe I can get enough expert "eyeballs" to make sure it's reliable. The community includes experts in game theory and microeconomics, and I hope to get their input as well.
