Member Profile
Chairman & CEO, Bioroot Energy, Inc., founded 2007, based near Missoula, Montana. Jay Toups has guided Bioroot Energy from inception to one of today’s most promising alcohol fuel startups. Mr. Toups’ professional interest in producing clean fuels from carbon wastes began in 2007 with the Big Sky Coalition, a community-led Montana non-profit dedicated to improving private, state and federal forest management practices through fuel-reduction projects (to reduce the risks of catastrophic wildfire) and other means. This community-focused organization’s mission to “do something about our overgrown private, state and national forests, jobs and the environment” carries on with Bioroot Energy and opens up sweeping possibilities for clean, sustainable, renewable fuel production and responsible economic development that exploits the full spectrum of society's solid, liquid and gaseous carbon wastes, including municipal solid and liquid wastes, abundant biomass and other carbon resources.
Mr. Toups has excelled for 30 years in the fields of information technology and technical marketing communications, and he has led and exited two small business startups. Jay’s professional background includes positions with Novell, Portlock Software, and Ford Sherman, Inc., in a variety technical, managerial and consulting positions. Jay studied English and Business at the University of Southern Mississippi.
