I am a 72 year old retired physician. 40 years ago I was writing about self sustainable energy production (manures to CH4, etc.) in the Cambridge Phoenix and the Real Paper. I am a veteran of the liberation of Wounded Knee in 1973 and I think the first sentence of your proposal a bit backwards the problem is not that we haven't yet learned to live in balance with the planet, the problem is that we have forgotten. We have forgotten that we are intimately dependent upon earthworms let alone each other. We think that what agriculture needs to feed us is to replace 4 billion years of evolution with the genetic engineering of the moment when a little less greed would solve the problem and solve it with a lot less risk and ego.
