Manik M Jolly is an Energy Access specialist who has worked for 6 years in Rural Electrification space. In 2012 he launched 'Eradication of Darkness' campaign with Ministry of Power, IFC and SunEdison in India. He built multiple Micro Grids in Rural areas to pilot and test the technologies and business models to make Solar Micro Grids sustainable and financially viable. He was awarded 'Global Green Game Changer' by WWF-UK in 2013 for this model. He worked with The World Bank from 2014-15 on Energy access in Nepal to create more energy efficient solutions by converting Micro Hydros to Micro Solar. In 2015 he started his Rural electrification company in Singapore, called GRID with support from NTU, Singapore, and later moved base to India. He was co-author of Global status report for REN-21, Paris for Asia region. He has been speaker, panelist at World Energy Forums, Singapore Energy week, India Renewable Week etc. He has worked as trainer, consultant and Advisor with Ministry of Power, UNDP, IFC, World Bank etc. He received 'Karamveer Award' in India in 2016. He is an Echoing Green Fellow for 2016. A decorated veteran from Indian Army, Manik is also visiting faculty for Energy MBA at Great Lakes Energy Management, Gurgaon. He recently developed a Solar based clean drinking water solution for remote areas and is in process of patenting it. He is based in Delhi and works as an Advisor to Deloitte Energy team. His startup has done impactful work in many villages and he is a strong promoter of creating larger Solar Micro grids that support Rural business, education, digital connectivity, health, women rights, sanitation etc and ensure a measurable, sizable and qualitative improvement in life style in Rural communities.
